primerIf you are considering undertaking a building or construction project chances are you will be looking into whether or not to undertake the priming of your building materials yourself or to employ a firm or business to do it for you.  Of course your decision will be effected by the size of your project and the type of building materials you are using, so it is important to have all the facts at hand before you make the ultimate choice.

Professional priming companies are spread all over the UK, and usually offer the priming as part of a wider business that provides and treats all sorts of building materials.  To make commercial priming fast and cost-efficient, these companies will usually have a number of machines at their disposal that carry out the entire priming process, including the initial preparation of the surface to be primed (the material may need to be cleaned, sanded or wiped down), the priming itself (automated brushes or sprays will ensure an even coverage), and the drying stage (which may require the use of a vacuum system to suck up any excess primer, and blowers to artificially speed up the drying process).  Some companies may also offer painting and other treatment services, meaning that you can have your building materials completely ready to be used by the time they come back from the factory.

You can instead opt to do the priming yourself, and this is of course a more sensible option if you are only undertaking a small project or you are trying to save money.  Priming products can be purchased from hardware stores all over the country, and should come with instructions on the tin as to how to apply the product properly.  You may need to prepare the surface first and allow several hours for drying.
